It took some more deep-Mission connections than we have to track down the new owners of Pig & Pie, which we broke the news about last week. The new eatery moving into the defunct Discolandia spot (2962 24th Street), as Mission Mission learns, will be sausage- and pie-focused, and partner Nathan Overstreet will serve as butcher and chef. Says managing partner Miles Pickering, who’s lived in the neighborhood for over a decade, “We’re looking to create a place where you can get upscale food at a downscale price in a casual setting. We think that sausages present a unique culinary opportunity, there’s so much you can do with them.” They’ve got the permit hurdle to jump in September, in order to convert the retail space, but Pickering is hopeful that they might make it open by November if all goes well. No word yet on what will become of the beloved Discolandia signage. [Mission Mission, Earlier]
