
Not to beat a dead horse, but as we’ve said before, Speck’s meltdown just prior to opening was a heartbreaking tragedy. And while Tony Rim’s ability to quickly open an extension of his popular Midtown Village sushi joint, Raw, in the space left vacant by Speck’s implosion eases that heartache a little — at least its not vacant — it doesnt do much for our deflated dreams of experiencing Alinea-like dining in NoLibs. But the latest insult to this fading dining injury? Rim tells the Inky’s Michael Klein that he and his kitchen staff only use “a fraction” of the sophisticated gadgetry outfitting the kitchen that was built to meet Speck’s specs. [Table Talk]
