Squid Ink seriously bums out with the news that Cemitas y Clayudas Pal Cabron has closed. Could it be that Koreatown just isn’t ready for an ass-kicking, tongue-in-cheek Mexican sandwich shop? Or are time-tested allegiances to the neighborhood’s loncheras too hard to sever? In any case, Bricia and Fernando Lopez Jr. honorably gave the relatively obscure cemitas of Puebla and clayudas of Oaxaca the glory and stature typically reserved for gourmet hamburgers in this town and will surely be missed. The siblings’ tacos arabes and a selection of Pal Cabron’s antojitos will be available at Las Perlas, while the duo concentrates on Guelaguetza, the essential Oaxacan restaurant founded by their parents.
CLOSED: Pal Cabron (& Natura Oaxacan Juice Bar) [Squid Ink]
