Just as it seems as if there’s a glimmer of hope for the Keystone State to catch up with the times with Harrisburg’s the newly hatched plan to privatize booze sales, there’s an awful reminder that this is Pennsyltucky and people here — especially when it comes to alcohol — always come up with a bad ideas! KYW Newsradio reports that under newly proposed rules, beer distributors will get a shot at selling wine and spirits. So just like folks in other states, if passed Pennsylvanians will have the pleasure of one-stop shopping for all their booze needs. But there’s still one of those only-in-PA catches. While the proposed changes will relax where drinkers can buy their wine and liquor, there’s no mention of easing the completely asinine rule of only allowing beer to be sold by the case! So rather than giving us the change we can believe in, the state’s proposed plans seem more like the more things change, the more they stay the same. [KYW Newsradio]
