Berlin International Film Festival director Dieter Kosslick (he’s also a vegetarian and food activist) will be honored at MoMA next month with screenings of eleven food-related films. The series starts on August 22 with Big Night and ends with the documentary Kings of Pastry on August 30. But that’s not all: The Modern chef Gabriel Kreuther will create and serve a different menu inspired by each film shown during Carte Blanche: Dieter Kosslick, the Culinary Cineaste. Also, on August 23, Kreuther will join Kosslick, Ruth Reichl, and Michael Romano for a panel called “Food, Culture, and Ecology,” which will follow a screening of Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the recent documentary about octogenarian sushi chef Jiro Ono. Talk will likely cover food movies in some capacity as well, and hopefully will not devolve into an argument about why Mostly Martha was nowhere near as good as its Eckhart-ed remake, No Reservations.
