Oakland: Who says there’s no good barbecue in the Bay Area? The Bay Area BBQ Championships, which includes a ton of brave competitors from the farthest reaches of the Bay Area, go down this Saturday, July 16, at the Oakland Coliseum Creekside parking lot. The fun starts at 9:00 a.m., and it’s advance-sale only, with tickets for $48. There’s also an A’s-Angels game that starts at 1 p.m. [Grub Street]
Also, Boot & Shoe Service (3308 Grand Avenue) just opened their expanded café digs next door this morning, featuring some light breakfast fare and Sightglass coffee.
