DJ Dinners at Flour + Water, Booze at Specchio, a Revised Menu at Plate Shop, and More

Mission: A lot of Mission news today… Tonight marks the start of a series of Guest DJ Dinners at Flour + Water, with local musician Tim Carr providing the playlist. Upcoming dinners will feature Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave (Aug. 1), and Thao Nguyen of Thao with the Get Down Stay Down (Sept. 5). Call 415.826.7000 for reservations. [Grub Street]
Also in case you missed it, the Chron went behind the scenes at popular “underground” restaurant Mr. Pollo last week. [Chron]
Meanwhile over at Specchio, they’ve got a brand new liquor license and a cocktail program featuring a Blood Orange Negroni and an Italian twist on the margarita, the Specchiorita, with tequila and limoncello. [Grub Street]
And at Beretta, bar manager Ryan Fitzgerald is doing a cocktail class tonight at 7 p.m. focusing on whiskey. $85 gets you a welcome cocktail, snack, plus three more drinks you’ll mix yourself, and the lesson of course. Call 415.695.1199 to see if there’s still room. [Grub Street]

Ferry Building: Two new kiosks have debuted: one from North Beach’s Bolivian/raw restaurant Peña Pachamama; and another from La Cocina, featuring items from vendors like Sabores del Sur, Kika’s Treats, Clairesquares, and Estrellita’s Snacks. [Feast]
Sausalito: New Plate Shop chef Peter Erickson (formerly of 1550 Hyde) talks about the “complete 180” the restaurant has done under his helm, and the new, more rustic menu. [Zagat]
