You know how Mission Chinese Food is on that hiatus while they take a tour of China with the owners of Lung Shan? We know. It’s been hard. Anyway, via the power of the internet, we now have photographic evidence and a review from a diner who was at a special pop-up meal that Danny Bowien and Anthony Myint did in Shenzhen last week, which looks a bit fancier than Mission Chinese’s usual fare and hearkens back to Myint’s days with Mission Street Food. The highlight of the evening, says the blogger, was steamed eggs served in a cappuccino cup. This is my favorite dish of the evening was steamed eggs, chawanmushi-style, served in a cappuccino cup “with chicken confit at the bottom and a thin piece of scallop and green apple on top, and they are all bathed in a superior broth infused with chrysanthemum. Refreshingly flavorful.” Be advised, the boys will be back home and MCF will reopen June 24. [Joie de Vivre via Scoop]
