Chef Michael Brown, the tatted toque who helped open Red O with Rick Bayless and was previously found at The Abbey, The Conga Room, and Brasserie Vert, departed Los Angeles in December to work at Dallas’ Alma, which The New York Times soon-after called “the best new restaurant in Texas” (’heckuva job, Brownie!’). Pegasus News reports that the chef has left the restaurant “due to some personal family issues,” has come back to California, and is not planning on returning to Texas. We’ll keep an eye on where Brown may next be getting down, but in the meantime, here’s a hardy welcome back to Cali! [Pegasus News]
