Chaya Brings Back Its Al Fresco Beer Garden

Yesterday Chaya Downtown opened up its Japanese beer garden for the second straight summer, planned to run until September 2nd from 5:00 P.M. to closing, Mondays through Fridays. Kazuya Matsuoka, the restaurant’s chef de cuisine, will prepare two dollar yakitori and kushiyaki skewers on the patio, including bacon and dates, beef tongue, short rib, shrimp, and one dollar shishito, while a salad of shabu shabu and soba or wagyu sukiyaki provide heartier sustenance. The drinks is normally where they’d get you, but here a sake sangria is eight bucks and a pitcher of Kirin priced at just fifteen, in addition to weekly sake flights and Japanese single malts under red paper lanterns and DJ beats.
