A new nightlife venue is taking over the space formerly known as Fat City at 314 11th Street, and it will be called Beatbox. The club is described as the “fervent brainchild of Linden Cambridge and Andrew Zivic” and it will herald, they say, “a new chapter in San Francisco nightlife, urban art installation and media.” They’re planning an opening night event for June 25, during Gay Pride weekend, which coincides with Pink Saturday in the Castro, and they’re teamed up with the popular but in-hibernation Frisco Disco kids, and DJ Craig Gaibler. Given how much competition there is for the gay dollar that weekend, we’re guessing this might end up more of a straight pride party. [Grub Street]
