Bauer Calls Bar Bocce ‘a Great Place to Observe the Natives’ of Sausalito

Mr. Bauer, confronted by views both spectacular (the one across the Bay from Bar Bocce’s back patio in Sausalito), and horrifying (a drunk, fat woman he describes as “dancing in front of the table [nearby] looking as if she were about to perform a strip tease”), almost turned around and left without writing a review of Bar Bocce. He says places with amazing views usually default to “indifferent food,” but that’s not the case here, with chef Robert Price turning out some solid pizzas and “excellent” salads, as well as a few other notable dishes. Bauer loves the “dense but tender” meatballs, served both on pizzas and on sliders; he compliments the fire-roasted Cornish game hen; and says they “do a bang-up job with the eggplant Parmesan.” All said and done: two stars, so it’s clear he wasn’t *in love* with the pizza this time.
