Barack Obama to Dine at Daniel While Michelle Digs Carrots in South Africa

Tonight, the POTUS is heading uptown to Daniel for a $35,800-a-head dinner, which is just slightly more than the $444-per-person it would typically cost to order the tasting menu there. According to Business Insider, “The dinner is part of Obama’s plan to win back the group of financiers that helped him cruise past McCain in 2008, many of whom were turned off by the President’s labeling of them as ‘fat cats’ near the beginning of his term.” So does that mean Michelle’s coming to town, too? Nope. She’s digging up vegetables in Johannesburg.

The First Lady took her gardening initiative global. While in South Africa yesterday, Michelle dug up some supersize carrots and, according to Obama Foodorama, “had a Let’s Move!-style chat with them, speaking about the importance of volunteer work, community health projects, and child nutrition as they wrestled young spinach plants from plastic containers.”
