Arrest Made in Oakland Restaurant Murders

A 22-year-old Richmond man has been arrested in the shooting deaths of two men at Sweet Jimmie’s restaurant (311 Broadway) in Oakland back in April. The incident, on April 25, took the lives of 27-year-old Williams Jenkins of Oakland and 22-year-old Adam Williams of San Leandro. Four others were wounded but survived. Police do not believe the victims were the intended targets of the shooter, and they won’t say if there are any other suspects at large — however back in May they told the Examiner they were looking for four of them. Sweet Jimmie’s is a dance club and restaurant, and is the second incarnation of a club started by the late “Sweet Jimmie” Ward in 1987 at 577 18th Street in downtown Oakland, which closed in 2006 after complaints about violence outside the club. Sweet Jimmie’s at Jack London Square remains open. [CBS]
