A Whole Lot O’ Gelato News

We recently rounded up some ice-cream news, but if you prefer your sweet treats in gelato or fro-yo form, this post is for you. First, a press release informs us that this summer, popular Greek yogurt brand Chobani will open a 550 square-foot frozen-yogurt shop in the former Swatch store at 150 Prince Street and West Broadway. Midtown Lunch tells us about a new gelato store at Sixth Avenue and 36th, and DNA Info reports that Screme will at some point launch its third outpost, a food cart, on Verdi Square at West 72nd Street and Broadway. We’re also told that Ba’al Café is now serving gelatos and sorbet from Laboratorio. Gelato flavors include pistachio, mission fig, vanilla, and dark chocolate; sorbet flavors include pomegranate, lime mint, and lemon basil. There’s also an olive-oil gelato, so if you’re bummed it’s missing from the GelOTTO cart this year, there you have it. (You may also want to know that Ciano is serving asparagus gelato.) Finally, the Wandering Eater had a look inside Amorino, the Italian import we told you about earlier.
