As mentioned, Xi’an Famous Foods is on the march: The Chinese noodle shop will open its fifth citywide location and third one in Manhattan at 67 Bayard Street this Saturday. The mini-chain already has one store in Chinatown, at 88 East Broadway, but, as a press release points out, this is the first “Old Chinatown” location and a chance to show “visitors from all over the world that there’s more to Chinatown than dim sum and buying fake ‘designer” bags.” In fact, there are awesome-looking Xi’an hats (pictured), which the shop is giving away Saturday to the first twenty customers who spend over $30. If you won’t be able to cobble together that kind of purchase amid the cheap eats, there’s a free cumin lamb, stewed pork, or seitan “burger” for anyone who RSVPs for the opening via Facebook. And you might be able to sit down when you eat that, thanks to the new shop’s 40 seats. See the storefront below.
