Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar didn’t so much as announce that it was opening as burst headfirst on to the scene. It has been chronicling its opening in a series of astonishing videos, which have been both informative and hilarious. We’ve admired the passion and the creativity, but have been taking a relaxed view of the process. Basically, we’ve been waiting to see the menu. We knew that former Sushi Wabi chef, Worachai Thapthimkuna, was in the kitchen, and that he knew what he was doing. Luckily, according to Eater, the new joint is set to officially open up next week, and it’s official menu has just been released.

The menu covers a lot of ground, and features a range of starters, noodle dishes, dumplings, sushi, and even a few meat-based entrees. That said, the heart of the menu seems to be the “Barbeque Bar,” which features skewers cooked over a “600° open flame robata grill.” Along with beef filet and chicken wings, you’ll also be able to score cow tongue, chicken thigh, and a whole squid. All of them are served with their own sauce, too.

We’ll have to wait until next week to see if they can pull off so many different components. Still, if the food is even half as good as the videos that preceded the opening, then we might have a new hit in River North. At the very least, check out its menu below.
