Chefs Gone Wild

Todd English: Crooner?

Given his recent string of woes, perhaps Todd English should contemplate a new career path. How about music?

Chatting with Zagat at the Beard awards about his penchant for cutting loose on stage, he confesses: “I did a couple gigs, that was it. We’ll see, I just had some fun — no Dancing With the Stars or American Idol for me. It was just something I always wanted to do, I did it, I got it off the bucket list. You know, we’ll see what happens. I certainly won’t give up my day job for that…nor should I because I don’t think I’d go that far.”

In fact, maybe he shouldn’t give up his day job. The Globe reports that a slew of hometown chef-pals, including Jasper White and Lydia Shire, are coming to his defense in the wake of Boston magazine’s takedown of him in this month’s issue. White called it a “vicious personal attack that was most unnecessary,’’ and drafted a letter of complaint that will run next month.
