Foodies With Benefits

Skateboarders to Host ‘Lowbrow’ Tsunami Relief Benefit, Featuring a Tattoo Raffle

We’re not usually inclined to give too much attention to press releases rife with spelling errors, but today we receive one we thought we should take note of. The folks behind Lowcard Mag, some sort of skater publication with an affinity for dogs, is throwing a “lowbrow soiree” to benefit Japanese disaster victims featuring a raffle (think skateboard gear, free tattoo services, bar tabs) and a “Volcom mini-ramp competition.” From the release: “Two of the grittiest crews in the city have formed together like a drunken Voltron to bring you a night you’ll never forget but will be too hammered to remember.” The fun starts May 20 at 9 p.m. at Club 6, and for a five-dollar (sliding scale) cover you’ll be treated to free catered food from Mission Chinese, The Sycamore, Blue Plate, Bar Crudo, and Ichi Sushi. Dirty skater hipsters are foodies now too! Also, there will be music, and two-dollar PBR. It may not raise thousands, but hey, it’s the thought that counts. See the full flyer below.
