Pudong to Become Gingerfruit, Remain Under Same Owners

There was much comment about the poor choice of Pudong (2029 Market Street) as a name for a restaurant, and it looks like the same owners are going to give it a go again under the name Gingerfruit. Eater reports on the little green sign that went up on the door recently announcing the new name, and we wonder if they’re doing anything further to remodel the inside, which felt pretty stale and Mecca-like still, and which may have been one of the biggest obstacles to their success. No word besides “soon” as to when the reopening will take place, or whether chef Jason Xu is still on board. [Eater, Earlier]
