Rumbo al Sur, Sibling to A Cote, Opening Soon

Back in June of last year, we reported on A Cote’s pan-Latin concept, Los Compadres, in Oakland’s Glenview neighborhood. Inside Scoop broke the latest news this morning of A Cote’s anticipated eatery. It looks like the name is undergoing a change from Los Compadres to Rumbo al Sur, which in Spanish essentially means “southbound.” Though the build-up has been over years, proprietor Jack Knowles projects approximately a month until the 160-seat restaurant opens. We can expect A Cote similarities (including chef Matt Colgan, who’ll take over from A Cote), but the menu direction is Central and South America, with cocktails utilizing regional spirits like tequila, mezcal, pisco and cachaca. Stay tuned for further opening date news. [Scoop, Earlier]
