When it rolls off the bottling line today at Philadelphia Distilling Company, XXX Shine, the white whiskey we told you the Bluecoat Gin makers had in the pipeline, will be the first whiskey distilled and bottled in Pennsylvania since the Michter’s Distillery in Lebanon County closed its doors in 1989. Once bottling is complete, the first run of the corn-based, unaged whiskey will ship. Philadelphia Distilling president and co-founder Andrew Auwerda says it could be on PA liquor store shelves by the end of the week. “It’s not going to be widely distributed at first,” Auwerda told Grub Street. “Until we get wider distribution, we’re going to be updating our Facebook page and Twitter with information about where it will be available.”
