Famed cookbook author Patricia Wells, who now resides in France full time, was recently in the Bay Area promoting her new book Salad as a Meal. The Journal talks with her about her favorite dishes while dining here, and among them were the black cod fritter and the seared calamari and octopus salad at Prospect, which, à la the book, she said could be “a whole meal”; the Shanghai soup dumplings and spinach dumplings at Yank Sing; and the fava leaf sformato (previously made with spinach) at Cotogna, which she calls “all green, soft, smooth and satisfying.”
