One neighborhood that’s been given short shrift in the pop-up zeitgeist is North Beach, but now Pete Mrabe of Don Pisto’s is going to change that. As Tablehopper reports, he’ll be doing an Asian pop-up thing, name TBA, inside of the divey bar Amante (570 Green Street at Stockton) starting in late July. The menu will have three sections: noodles (think Thai spaghetti, pork belly ramen, duck chow fun), raw stuff like crudos, and Chinatown five-spice fried chicken. The latter will be Mary’s organic, served in a 10-piece bucket, and it will come with three Asian sides for $24. Along with the openings of Nico’s Tacos and Txoko, the casual food scene in North Beach is about to become a whole lot more worthwhile! [Tablehopper]
