So where did Melissa McCarthy draw her inspiration for the, uh, mannish character she plays in Bridesmaids? Food Network! As she told Conan O’Brien last night, “When I first read it, the first person I thought of was Guy Fieri.” We can see it: After all, McCarthy’s character’s preferred attire is a Kangol hat and a bowling shirt — with pearls, naturally. “I kept trying to wear my glasses on the back of my head,” she said on Conan. And “I tried for a long time to get them to let me wear short, white, spiky hair. They’re like, ‘You can’t actually be Guy Fieri!’” Still, the resemblance is uncanny, wouldn’t you say?
