Future Chefs Event in Long Island City; Jitney Lunchbox From David Burke

Gramercy Riverpark will extend their weekend brunch to Monday for Memorial Day, served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. [Grub Street]

Long Island City: El Ay Si supports the students with a Future Chefs Kickoff Event on June 14 at 6:30 p.m. where the winners of El Ay Si’s Future Chef Competition from the Food and Finance High School will showcase their new menu items for the restaurant, the proceeds of which will go toward a scholarship fund for the kids. Midtown: Starting May 25, Andaz Fifth Avenue will offer hotel guests picnic baskets from their restaurant the shop. The three basket options range from a $60 sandwich basket to a $2000 “lavish” basket with cheese, bread, and apparently very expensive wines. [Grub Street]

David Burke at Bloomingdale’s is packing a special Jitney lunchbox for those heading to the Hamptons for Memorial Day. The $12 “Burke in the Box,” includes half a sandwich, a brownie, bag of chips, and a water bottle. [Grub Street]

Soho: Vai Spuntino Bar will begin serving brunch/lunch on May 31 with a menu of twelve rotating small plates, including a truffle mushroom pizzetta and hamachi/tuna duo with ginger, available every day from noon to 4 p.m. There will also be a prix fixe option of any three plates for $19. Supper club Worth Kitchen will host a five-course, wine-paired Peruvian dinner on June 2 from 8 to 11 p.m., with dishes like lime-cured fish with South American chile and cilantro. The location is only disclosed upon $90 ticket purchase. [Grub Street]

David Burke Kitchen will premiere a new frozen cocktail menu this weekend with $16 coolers such as the watermelon-yuzu margarita, Creamsicle, and rocky road made with housemade vanilla vodka and Bailey’s. [Grub Street]
