If not for the fact that Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant has yet to set up shop within city limits, P.Y.T.’s burger baron Tommy Up might have found some competition this month in continuous quest to roll one far-out burger creation after another. In observance of May being National Burger Month, the local brewpub chain is putting forth a different burger special at all eight of its suburban outposts each day until June. Yesterday it kicked things off with its Napa Valley Burger, served with Cabernet onions, black pepper chevre, tomato and arugula. Today’s burger is a riff on steak au poivre, and going forward you can expect everything from a Grilled Cheese Burger, with a burger, fried onions, mushrooms and tomato sandwiched between Swiss and cheddar on rye bread to a “South Philly Burger,” with garlicky broccoli rabe, roasted long hots, provolone and Asiago cheese.
