Ordinarily the Four Seasons isn’t exactly a place where you go to grab a beer. Afternoon tea? Sure. Celebrate a special occasion over a lavish brunch at the Swann Lounge? Absolutely! But beer? No way. Come Philly Beer Week, that’s all going to change. At yesterday’s press conference for the annual ten-day beer blowout, Don Russell, one of Beer Week’s founders and its current executive director, announced that the hotel, in partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), will transform its outdoor courtyard into the With Love Beer Garden. It will function as Beer Week’s unofficial headquarters and serve a variety of local craft beers and tasty snacks that go well with them.
The With Love Beer Garden will be open every day from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from June 6 through June 10. Each day will have a different featured brewery serving samples of their brews. It kicks off on June 6 with Downingtown’s Victory Brewing Co., which will debut the second run of its Summer Love Ale, a special beer it created in conjunction with GPTMC’s With Love campaign for last year’s Beer Week. Other breweries on tap include Weyerbacher, Yards and Sly Fox, which plans to host a canned beer night and lawn games.
The festival itself will feature hundreds and hundreds of beer events taking place throughout the city and surrounding communities. Check the Philly Beer Week website for full listings.
