Once you’ve read enough of the Weekly’s Best of SF issues, you tend to see the formula in the Food list: highlight some new places (but nothing too high-end), highlight some new aspect of some tried-and-true places, and pick a burrito place from the repertory that hasn’t gotten a nod in a few years, just so they have a fresh certificate to post by the door. This year we have Commonwealth and Mission Chinese sharing the honor for Best New Restaurant, Range snagging the Best Neighborhood Bistro honor, Prospect getting a mention for their happy hour, and Limon Rotisserie predictably taking the Best Roast Chicken medal. In the Bars section, Bar Agricole takes the prize for Best Fancy Retro-Modern California Cuisine Cocktails, whatever the hell that means. The only surprise? Cheaper, more hipster-friendly burgers get eschewed in favor of Lark Creek Steak, which takes the honor for Best Burger because “this is a burger that stands up to the elemental.” Also, see the Reader’s Poll winners below.
