Black Cat Bakery Starts Serving Dinner, Check Out The Menu

Black Cat Cafe & Bakery is now serving dinner from Wednesday through Sunday each week. The menu reflects many of chef Nick Coe’s influences, with sophisticated retro dishes like beef Burgundy and Julia Child’s recipe for chicken liver mousse, as well as global touches found in a striped beet borscht, burrata-laced bibimibap, Uzbek-style Salisbury lamb, German pancakes, and a Thai shrimp salad. In addition to the pastries and coffee that pack guests in by day, there are light appetizers and salads, plus a selection of entrees that includes a bacon burger with Homeboy chips, and salmon with grapefruit beurre blanc. Coe and partner Nile Park hope to have a beer and wine license soon, hopefully in the next two months or sooner. Of this eclectic menu, Coe says, “I just want comfortable, old-school dishes…I’m not trying to rattle your cage, but want to offer something that satisfies your soul.
