Maybe it was partly due to the over-saturation of wine bars around town, but the trio behind Town Hall, Anchor & Hope, and Salt House — Doug Washington and brothers Mitchell and Steven Rosenthal — have scrapped their earlier plans for a wine-on-tap bar in a former auto repair shop at 740 Valencia Street. As Tablehopper reports this afternoon, Washington says the plan got too overwhelming on top of their other three businesses. “We all have lives, kids, families… and all three of us came to the conclusion not to proceed.” The space in what Washington calls a “smokin’” ‘hood is now up for grabs for any other industrious restaurateurs.
