Did you know that country singer Toby Keith has a redneck-themed chain restaurant? Yes, he does and trust us, it’s way too late for an April Fool’s joke. The chain is called Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, a name that comes from his song, I Love This Bar (since naming it, “Cause we’ll put a boot in your ass/It’s the American way” would have been too long to write on tax returns). The first one of these huge country-style joints sprang on Oklahoma City in 2005 (about three years before Keith released a pro-lynching song!) followed by a scattering of locations from Las Vegas to Massachusetts. And next comes, wait for it…Southern California!
Yep, we thought we lived in a blue state, not Bakersfield, but we see on Craigslist that Keith’s joint is looking for a kitchen manager, one who can presumably endure live country music, oversee the expedition of fried bologna sandwiches and BBQ chicken, and translate to the staff whether Keith is angry or pleased every time he shouts, “Well a-ding-dang-doo!” Not really, the only qualification seems to be: “We are looking for someone who has had less than 3 jobs in 5 years,” which means two last time we checked. Good luck, Toby!
In any case, the restaurant is opening soon in Victoria’s Gardens and is seeking staff for a few different positions. And speaking of positions, we happen to have one on Toby Keith: he’s a racist jerk and his music pretty much sucks! Yup, as much as we kind of want to try fried bologna sandwiches and are slightly titillated by the promise of “Whiskey Girls”, we think we’ll skip this one and go buy a Dixie Chicks album instead.
