The staircase is part of the design by Olle Lundberg.

Owner Adam Jed let Grub Street in yesterday for a peek at the still in-progress Bluestem Brasserie on Yerba Buena Lane. We typically leave the dusty construction photos to our competitors, but we make an exception in this case to show you the grand steel spiral staircase they just installed yesterday, designed by Olle Lundberg and fabricated by Eandi Metal Works in Oakland. The thing weighs 4,000 pounds and will ultimately have steel mesh guardrails. Says David Battenfield, project architect at Lundberg Design, the curvature of the staircase “provides a visual contrast to the primarily rectilinear space.” Bluestem should be open by June, with a steakhouse-meets-brasserie menu by Sean Canavan.
