Koko Cocktails Faces Resistance to Their Planned Move

We heard the early word last month that beloved Tenderloin dive bar Koko Cocktails was getting forced out of their current location because of the impending hospital construction at Van Ness and Geary, and that the owners were planning to move around the corner to 1423 Polk Street and transfer their liquor license there to open the HiLo Club. Now the Tender reports that they’re facing some backlash from bar-haters in the neighborhood who are attempting to block their move into what was formerly a retail space. There’ll be a public hearing about it, at the Planning Commission, next Thursday, May 5, if you’d like to go and voice your support. [Tender, Earlier]
