Greenpeace Disappointed in Supermarket Seafood

Greenpeace has just released the fifth edition of its seafood sustainability report, which ranks supermarkets for their practices. Our condolences to last year’s winner, Target; it has been displaced by Safeway (a retailer you may or may not have heard of, depending on where you live), which won partly owing to its commitment not to buy Chilean Sea Bass from the protected Ross Sea. Still: “Despite all this good news, it’s important to remember that not a single large retailer has achieved a ‘green’ score in the Greenpeace Seafood Sustainability Ranking,” scolds killjoy senior markets campaigner Casson Trenor, via a press release. Especially you, Trader Joe’s — at No. 12, you’re waaay behind.
