Last fall, we caught wind of El Segundo Brewing Company, a new craft beer producer setting up shop by the coast. We recently checked in with owner Rob Croxall, who tells us that production is starting slowly and that distribution to local stores and restaurants is set to begin in roughly two to three weeks, with nearby Rock and Brews and Main Street Santa Monica’s Library Alehouse already committed to carrying their beers, including its signature lines of Blue House Ales.
Right now the brewery facilities are coming along and the crew says they are playing with different recipes and are brewing their pale ale as a tester. The tasting room side of the operation is dealing with the usual health departments snags, but this brew co. is hopeful for a June debut. Fast on the heels of Angel City’s relocation to Downtown and smack dab in the height of our craft beer craze, El Segundo Brewing Company could provide some connective tissue in making our brew scene, which we’ve been told 1,000 times is way behind San Diego and NorCal’s, slightly stronger.
