At the end of last year Georges Perrier announced that he would keep Le Bec-Fin open, contradicting earlier claims that the Restaurant Row flagship was pulling up its stakes. He also announced he was working on some new ventures, including a French bakery in Narberth called the Art of Bread. While his other ambiguous projects have yet to take shape, Grub Street learned this week that things are moving along with Art of Bread. The bakery is aiming for an opening in the next three to four weeks and will be located at 920 Montgomery Ave. Le Bec-Fin’s executive pastry chef Cedric Barberet will handle the bulk of the baking. He expects to offer daily selections of breads and pastries baked on premises. Breads will be baked twice daily to ensure that the offerings are always fresh. The spot will also serve salads, sandwiches and other light fare, as well as coffee and cakes. It will also serve as a pickup location for chocolates, birthday and other special occasion cakes.
