Grub Street doesn’t normally advocate skipping meals, but we’ll make an exception for City Harvest’s Skip Lunch Fight Hunger day. On May 11, the charity is encouraging New Yorkers to take whatever money they’d normally spend on the midday meal and donate it instead. If you generally fork over ten bucks for a salad, that can feed 43 children. And if you usually power lunch at The Four Seasons, well, you should probably kick in a bit more. City Harvest is still signing up fund-raising teams, and the organization will also take individual donations. Find out more here.
