
Besides maybe jelly beans, no Easter candy is more tied to the holiday than Peeps. Sure, you can cook the marshmallow-esque creations in a microwave, or create Peeps sushi, but do they have any other culinary use? The Tribune decided to find out, asking three of the city’s best chefs to create a dish “incorporating the beloved Peep.” iNG created a playful riff on chicken and waffles, while Merlin Verrier from Graham Elliot incorporated them into an ice cream and Nutella sundae. But “best in show” went to Mindy Segal from Hot Chocolate, who created a cookie where the Peeps are, um, “peeping from a cookie.” Oh, and just in case none of these creations sound appetizing enough, Peeps.com has a disturbingly large recipe section.
