April Fools’! BaconAir, Vegan Burgers, Toast Joints, and Pizza Pranks

As far as food-related April Fools’ Day pranks go, these aren’t anywhere near as good as last year’s In-N-Out hoax, but for the record: Carl’s Jr. “introduced” a new Original Six Dollar Vegan Tofu Burger, Serious Eats “launched” a trio of new sites including Serious Beets, Starbucks “announced” a new app that summons baristas on scooters, and Tasting Table “reported” that Eddie Huang is opening a new “secret Brooklyn iPad toast joint.” Oh, and of course it wouldn’t be April Fools’ without a bacon hoax like the bacon suit or squeezable bacon: This year it’s “BaconAir,” an inhaler that combines the “deliciousness of bacon with the unrivaled health benefits of 95% pure Himalayan oxygen.” (As far as we know, the Maple Bacon Sundae that Denny’s just introduced is not a joke.) If all of this fails to amuse you, check out the pizza pranks that Slice has gathered.
