A.G. Ferrari Closes Berkeley Store, Files for Chapter 11

Italian delicatessen/wine-and-cheese shop chain A.G. Ferrari has filed for bankruptcy, and may be closing a couple of their stores. As of Sunday, they’ve closed one of their thirteen Bay Area locations, the Solano Avenue location in Berkeley, and CEO Paul Ferrari says the company is trying to use the bankruptcy to restructure and renegotiate a few unfavorable leases. “We are going through the discussion process with landlords now with a possibility of having to close a few more stores outside of the East Bay,” Ferrari tells the Tribune. “Outside the East Bay” translates quite likely to the Castro, SoMa (688 Mission), and Laurel Village locations, which could be endangered, so look for some possible clearance sales on Taleggio!
