Today the Khyber Pass Pub is cashing in on some of its new found clout as one of the city’s premier purveyors of authentic Louisiana flavor and letting the good times roll with its Mardi Gras celebration. Along with po-boys served on genuine Leidenheimer French bread and gumbo spiked with andouille imported from Best Stop, the Khyber is pouring Abita’s Mardi Gras Bock and Bourbon Street classics like Hurricanes and Pirate Punch throughout the evening. Some blocks south of there, Queen Village’s NOLA-obsessed newcomer Catahoula is serving a selection of small plate specials that include crawfish croquettes topped with Herbsaint aioli, housemade boudin with pork confit and smoky red beans, and carafes of hurricanes.

• Across town, Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. is spotlighting cocktails with origins in the Big Easy with its “See You in Hell, New Orleans” themed Extra Credit program. Featured cocktails include Roffignac, Vieux Carre and Sazerac. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the bar will also offer complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres.

PYT is getting in on the Mardi Gras action with Lousiana Rémoulade Dogs, all beef hotdogs in rémoulade served with Pop Chips, and Bluesiana Burgers, rootbeer-glazed beef patties with spicy bayou sauce and Mardi Gras slaw.
