The latest in the recent slew of Asian-ish openings is Walle, the rather delayed project from Wally Chin (Chin Chin). Turns out Chin had suffered from some health problems, but he’s doing better now and is ready to open the doors on his 110-seat restaurant and lounge Monday. With the help of executive chef Chris Cheung (of Monkey Bar and, most recently, Nolita’s Lair), Chin will serve a bill of fare that’s “American with a lot of Chinese infused into it.” That translates to dishes like the Walle burger, served inside a “shanghai pancake bun” with “cheese oozing out,” Chin tells Grub Street. There’s also a selection of small plates, including buns stuffed with sustainable meats, along with Asian shellfish platters and “blue plate barbecue rice.” Take a peek at the full menu below, and glimpse the space — with its 30-seat lounge, and back dining room — in our slideshow.
