Umami Burger’s Cow Hollow Location Up In Air, And Now They’re Going to Oakland Too

Word broke in December that addiction-encouraging L.A. burger chain Umami Burger was headed up north — and we later heard that they were expanding nationally, in fact — but yesterday Tablehopper brought word that they won’t actually be moving into the Noodle Theory spot at 3242 Scott Street as previously announced. Owner Adam Fleischman won’t say where exactly, out of deference to the still-open restaurant he’s in talks to take over, but it’s somewhere nearby on Union Street! Any guesses?

In further news, Eater gets the scoop that Fleischman’s also in negotiations for an Oakland branch as well — exact location TBA, but if he’s smart (which he is) it’ll probably be either Grand Lake, Temescal, or, more likely, Uptown near the Fox and a couple of upcoming new bars. Planned opening time frame for both the S.F. and Oakland branches: summer 2011.

Do note that this isn’t just any old burger chain; GQ named their signature burger “Burger of the Year” last year.
