So, we’re kind of impressed! New bar owners Nader Marvi and Arvin Matthew took the barely designed space that was DragonBar, with its almost-peg-board back bar, and turned it into someplace we might not mind grabbing a drink so long is it wasn’t Friday and North Beach wasn’t overrun with douchenozzles! Newly, softly opened Monroe (473 Broadway, near Kearny) is all it aims to be: an “upscale” lounge with a “Hollywood speakeasy” theme. They just started letting in the public last night, in preparation for a grand opening in a few weeks. Food-wise, expect some tapas items and pizzas; drinks-wise, some nicer cocktails than you’ll find in most bars on Broadway. But take a look for yourself. The renderings didn’t lie!
Monroe - 473 Broadway, near Kearny - 415.772.9002 - Hours TBA, but expect them open after 5 p.m.
Earlier: Monroe to (Possibly) Open By Valentine’s Day
