Tomorrow the forces behind The Daily Grill and Grill on the Alley are opening a new Downtown restaurant and bar called Public School 612, with the intent of educating the masses about (and selling a lot of) beer. Coming to the 600 block of Flower Street, attached to Daily Grill, P.S. 612 features a beer list by “Beer Chick” Hallie Beaune and a short menu of bar eats from company chef Phil Kastel and Dante Ascenzi, who will reside as the executive chef here. What will you be eating and drinking here?

This school, unlike any of our own alma mater, is mostly about craft beer, offering U.S. brews on tap like Racer 5 IPA, Rasputin stout, and Taps Irish Red from Brea, alongside global selections like Hitachino Nest White, Unibroue Ephemere, and powerhouse labels in big bottles designed to split like Allagash Curieux and Telegraph Stock Porter. In addition to cocktails, champers, and wine, you’ll also find a slim menu of beer-friendly food like a croque madame with speck, Thai noodle salad, seafood stew, Dragoon stout-braised short ribs, and a lamb burger, while dessert continues the boozy fun with a chocolate stout float.

The new restaurant and bar will seat 70 and features those community tables that has everybody hating these days. The space comes attached to Daily Grill and will offer a beer glossary so you don’t have to sit there with your tongue hanging out while your friends discuss malt and yeast varieties. P.S. 612 opens tomorrow at 4:00 P.M. Check out the full drink and food menu online.
