Jamie Oliver Calls Sarah Palin a ‘Fruit Loop’

For a guy who just wants to help America’s youth avoid falling victim to a fatty fate, Jamie Oliver sure takes a lot of flack. Of course, Michelle Obama faces much of the same criticism, especially from Sarah Palin. Well, Oliver’s tired of it, and he’s coming to the first lady’s defense.

Incensed by the former Alaska governor’s flippant critique of the Obama administration’s recently revised nutritional requirements for school meals, which she dismisses as more government meddling in private family matters, Oliver called Palin a “Fruit Loop,” in an interview with the AP. He counters Palin’s assertion with claims that getting healthy foods to children is a civil-rights issue, and that a nutritionally deficient diet is akin to child abuse. He adds that once Americans watch what’s been shot in the last two months for his show Jamie’s Food Revolution (nice plug, mate), they’re going to “react strongly.” Based on how the show has already been received, we suspect the real struggle will be getting this country’s tubby tube watchers to tune in.
