Hopelessly Delayed

Ike’s Remains, As Ever, In Limbo

A note from Ike’s Place owner Ike Shehadeh informs us that what we thought was an impending reopening on 16th Street — in the former Joseph Schmidt chocolate shop at 3489 16th Street, a hop and a skip from where Ike’s used to be — has turned into yet another runaround with the City. “There isn’t a word yet,” says Ike when we asked about the opening date. “Still waiting on the City’s approval process… Ike’s had its application on the City’s desk since Dec 23, 2010.” He got Planning’s approval back in December, but a few more sign-offs remain. He is hiring for the new location, though, so clearly he expects things to move along soon. And Ike’s remains in residence around the corner at Lime. [Grub Street]
