Grant Achatz Is Coming! On Thursday!

The great Grant Achatz, possibly the country’s most buzzed-about chef at present, is on a book tour with his kitchen/cancer memoir, and he’ll be doing a little reading and book-signing on Thursday at 12:30 at Book Passage at the Ferry Building. In honor of his visit, the Scoop is publishing a series of Q&As; with French Laundry folks who knew Achatz back in the day, starting with Chef Keller himself. Keller says that Achatz began as a “timid commis” who became an “impactful sous chef,” and discusses how he first set Achatz up with a stage at El Bulli in Spain — an experience that changed Achatz’s course forever.
