It seemed like such a perfect idea at the time. Italian restaurateur, Scott Harris, decided to team up with the respected pizza maker, Nella Grassano, for Nella Pizzeria Napoletana in Lincoln Park. Surely it was destined to compete with Spacca Napoli for the best Neapolitan-style pizza in Chicago. At first, it got some good reviews, and there were even plans for a second location in Little Italy, but then the wheels kind of fell off. Nella Grassano mysteriously left, the name changed to Francesca’s Pizzeria Napoletana, and the space for the second outlet became Davanti Enoteca instead. And now we learn from Eater that it’s going to leave Lincoln Park. The idea is to reopen in Little Italy, where Harris happens to be on quite a roll. No location has been announced, but the website promises that it will be “Coming soon to Chicago’s Little Italy neighborhood!”Also, if you happened to purchase a gift card you can redeem that at any Francesca’s location.
